Runway Looks
More than the Organza morning coats, the lace cutout sheer gowns and tulli tops, Coco Johnsen showed progression in this collection . A nod to the future of fashion and vintage inspired looks: joyous and just a little bit twisted, starting with the mask make up looks, jumpsuits and unisex skunk coats.
Coco Johnsen, “I wanted to experiment with this collection and I created a few men’s wear looks for the first time “.
We created vintage style moto jackets for men with embellishment on the sleeve and a unisex skunk coat.

Behind The Scenes Make Up
Coco Johnsen runway make up featured tribal looks and super comic book hero’s inspirations for her Los Angeles Fashion Week show.
Make up this season was used more as a mask or a shield helping to create each character. The head of make up decided to use no highlighter and instead we used a lot of moisturizer to make the skin glow and luxurious grease pencils around the eyes. All make up sponsored by Star Looks.

MAKING THE COLLECTION
Manufacturing is very important and I make sure that I pay close attention to the details and fit. We had several meeting before we got the final look.
We make several MUSLINS before we arrive at the final product.
Once I see the collection looks then I edit the collection down. Then we are ready for our model fitting.
My Inspiration board hangs in my office to inspire me and helps me to stay focused on my goal.
CASTING SESSION
CASTING IS ONE OF THE MOST IMPORATANT PARTS OF PREPARATION FOR FASHION WEEK
THE CASTING SESSION IS PRIVITAL TO THE LOOK OF THE ENTIRE SHOW BECAUSE I ALWAYS HAVE A VISION AND A STRONG IDEA OF THE TYPE OF CHARACTERS OR MODEL I WANT TO CAST.
THE CASTING OF THE WARRIOR COLLECTION WAS EVEN MORE IMPORTANT BACAUSE I WAS CASTING MODELS WHO NEEDED TO HAVE AN EDGY LOOK . I WAS ALSO CASTING MALE MODELS FOR THE FIRST TIME.
WE ARE STANDING OUTSIDE THE BEVERLY WILSHIRE HOTEL BECAUSE THEY KICKED US OUT WHEN THEY REALIZED THAT WE WERE HOLDING A MODEL CASTING.
INSTEAD OF GIVING UP AND RESCHEDULING THE WHOLE CASTING, I DECIDED TO CONTINUE AND HELD CASTING ON THE SIDEWALK IN BEVERLY HILLS.
WE HAD THE MODELS PARADE UP AND DOWN THE SIDE WALK AS IF THEY WALKING ON A CATWALK.
WE HAD A GREAT SHOW.

Coco Johnsen appears on 24 Hour Catwalk
From the Producers of Project Runway on Lifetime Television.
Being on the show was so much fun but a lot of hard work. As a contestant we had so many challenges to over come. When the Producers asked me what type of animal I was afraid of and I said snakes, well of course they put a snake in my sewing basket. Now that’s just wrong, but it made for a great show and was so funny.
The dress I designed was a gorgeous black & white Piyet asymmetrical cocktail dress, but I used too much of the sample stripe Piyet fabric and was voted off first! Darn it! Can’t wait for a rematch. Catch the re-runs on Life Time Television or on the 24 Hour Catwalk Youtube channel.
